Merry Christmas to all …

As the door bell sounded this morning, I looked up to find myself face to face with the big man himself; all dressed in red and jingling with every step. He truly is jolly looking and apparently in search of a pair of shoes to go with the perfect outfit – a gift for a dear friend. He seemed a bit distracted, as well he might be, just a few short days from delivering all those toys.
He didn’t stay long, but as the door closed behind him I heard him exclaim “Merry Christmas to all …”
I’m open Thursday until 9 and December 24th until 3PM –
I wish you all Happy Holidays.
I’ll re-open on the 27th with Boxing Day Sales!!
HO HO HO and hah hah hah

Closer still the big day comes – how are your preparations coming?
All this planning – its a lot of work. I remember in years gone by feeling incredibly stressed about everything I had yet to do … I hope you are feeling peaceful and enjoying the hustle and bustle.
A friend recently sent me this you tube video … and in the infamous words of my friend … “This is pretty danged funny”.
Let it snow …

Well, winter has finally and truly arrived. I wondered whether I would even make it out of my driveway this morning … I must say I am really enjoying having these wonderful Marc Softwalk Tall boots … for the first time ever, I walk through snow without a care to its depth! German designed, made in Italian leather and lined for warmth … classic “riding boot” styling makes them timeless … one pair left!
Wait til you see the boots coming for SPRING from Marc … fantastic! Ok, I guess I feel that way about most of what I have on order for Spring/Summer next year … and as I move forward, I’m getting a better idea of what you, my dear customers, want! I am excited about the shoe show in February for Fall/Winter 2011. Its so strange to already be dreaming about this time next year!

I am delighted to have artist friends featured on the walls in the store.
Merle Harstone of Caledon was the first with her colourful, large abstracts making quite a statement. I was sorry to see them go as I loved them!
Visit Merle’s website here .
Presently, Kim McCarthy’s work grace the walls. Kim works with encaustics – oil pigments suspended in a wax and resin base. Kim’s pieces are rich in colour and texture … and filled with symbolism. Visit Kim’s website here.
I really look forward to hosting other artist’s work here in the future.
Now that I am on the topic of art, many of you probably know that I also have a few wonderful pieces by local wire sculptor, Iris Casey. Iris made me the “shoekat” that sits outside the store as well as a small shoe that is in the store.
I will be featuring Iris’s work sometime in the future. Her work is really quite remarkable – tiny hummingbirds, quail, ducks, hens and even a large goose in flight. Iris is so creative; if you ever get a chance, you should visit her at Stonedragon Studio. Take this link to Iris’s “website in the making”.
A few pieces of my own work can be found in the store too … I have a giclee print and some other digital photographs here and also a few small glass pieces with plans to bring a few other pieces in at some point too … check out my website here.
Choirs, Christmas and Crochet!

As I write, I can see out my window the Christmas lights in the median in front of the Town Hall. Very cheery.
Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas …
I went with friends last Saturday to hear the Achill Choir perform the Messiah. The Colgan Church has beautiful acoustics and we thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Halleujah! What a sensation to hear so many voices raised in song together and have it reverberate through one’s chest!
A friend sent this information along – Headwaters Concert Choir present “A Celtic Christmas”, 2:00 pm, at Claude Presbyterian Church (Hwy 10, N of Victoria, S of Old Baseline). Tickets $15/person. For tickets, call 905-838-3512, 905-838-2372 or 519-941-7555.
Have you had a chance to see these wonderful hand made merino wool scarves from Sophie Digard of Paris, France? Well, actually I sold one of the two last Saturday … from around my shoulders!
They are truly magnificent works of art – wonderful colour combinations, and fine detailing. Each hue is made up of 60 threads in merino, mohair and velvet making every scarf truly one of a kind. It was difficult to choose from the tiny pictures provided, but I would imagine almost impossible to not be thrilled with any choice. They are made in linen for warmer weather, in wonderful “summery” shades. I hope to bring some in linen next season.
